Grocery Stores
Some grocery stores offer a fuel discount with purchase - use of the store's customer loyalty card may be required when paying for the grocery purchase, and the gas purchase. Kroger Co. stores now offer their fuel discount nationwide. For every $100 in store purchases, shopping card holders receive a 10 cent per gallon discount. Customers using a Kroger credit card receive a 15 cent per gallon discount.
Safeway stores offer a 10 cent per gallon discount for every $50 in store purchases, and some Safeway stores have their own on-site gas stations that are competitively priced even before the discount is applied.
Credit Cards
Customers using a BP (British Petroleum) Business Solutions MasterCard, via ABNSave, receive a 4.5 cent per gallon discount at over 13,000 locations.
Meijer credit card holders can take advantage of a 10 cent per gallon discount starting June 1, running through Labor Day. The program, "Meijer Gives Back," will be available at Meijer gas stations and C-Stops.
Customers using a Wal-Mart Discover Card receive a 3 cent per gallon discount on gas purchases at Wal-Mart and Sam's Club.
Car Manufacturers
Chrysler is offering new customers a three-year supply of unleaded gas at $2.99 per gallon with the purchase of select models.
Suzuki Motors is providing three months' worth of free gasoline to new car buyers.
Travel & Tourism
The travel industry is also offering gas discounts as an incentive to draw visitors. The Branson Tourism Center in Branson, Missouri is offering a fuel discount coupon of 20 cents per gallon off gas at Branson 1st Stop Travel-Plex. The Branson Chamber of Commerce is again offering their "Gas Buster" card, good for a total of $50 worth of discounts at local hotels, restaurants and shops, to anyone with receipts of $40 in gas purchased in the 48 hours before arrival.
Hotels.com will give customers a $50 gas card when they book 3 nights or more between May 19, 2008 to July 6, 2008 and travel by Sept. 1, 2008.
Aspen, Colorado is offering a $50 gas voucher to visitors who book two nights of lodging in advance.
Cash Payment
Check with your favorite gas station to see if they offer a discount for paying in cash rather than using credit. Discounts can be as high as 15 cents per gallon.
